Claudia Lai

 

 

Claudia Lai is Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained her master’s degree from the University of Toronto and her doctoral degree from the University of Hong Kong. She has practiced nursing in Hong Kong, Canada, and England, and has worked briefly as a volunteer nurse in India. Her program of research focuses on various aspects of long-term care and, in particular, on the care of people suffering from dementia. She has won a number of awards for her work on dementia care. She has published books, book chapters, and journal papers, both locally and internationally. She took second place in the 2003 International Psychogeriatric Association Research Awards in Psychogeriatrics and was selected as the STTI’s 2004 recipient of the Research Dissemination in Nursing Award for Region 1.She is dedicated to the cause of dementia care and has volunteered her time at the Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association since 1996. Her other voluntary commitments include serving on the Specialized Committee on Elderly Service for the Hong Kong Council of Social Services, and various other community service agencies. She is an honorary nursing advisor to many voluntary services and charitable foundation in Hong Kong.
