Biograph

Miia Kivipelto, MD, PhD is Associate Professor in Neurology/Neuroepidemiology and Deputy Head of Aging Research Center, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. She is also Research Director of Neuroepidemiology unit at University of Eastern Finland. She is combining research with clinical medicine working also as senior geriatrician at the Memory Clinic, Karolinska University Hospital. She has been working in several clinical trials concerning AD. Dr. Kivipelto is the principal investigator in the large populations based ‘Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Aging and Dementia’ (CAIDE) study’ and in ‘Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER)’. Dr. Kivipelto has several PhD and post doc students in her research group and she is involved in many international networks and scientific/steering committees. She got the Association of European Psychiatrists Prevention Award in Psychiatry 2007 for her work concerning modifiable risk factors for AD, and Academy of Finland award for social impact 2009.
